Library Rules

To ensure that the library remains a pleasant and productive research environment for all members of the FETP community, users are kindly requested to obey the following rules:

  • Leave all bags on the shelves at the entrance.
  • Do not speak loudly, smoke, drink (or eat) in the library and switch off or silence all cell phones before entering the library.
  • Treat all library materials with care. Defacing library materials with pens, pencils, highlighters, etc. is strictly forbidden.
  • Re-shelve all materials to their original location after use. If you are unsure where a book belongs, please leave it on the librarian’s desk for shelving.
  • Strictly abide by the FETP’s photocopy rules. Before photocopying anything please announce to the librarian and note number of pages in the photocopy list.
  • Participants register photocopy service, please fill out “Photocopy request papers” and refer to the photocopying rules (attached).

Borrowing Procedures

  • To borrow a book, please fill out the borrowing card affixed to the inside back cover of the book: date, borrower name and put it at the librarian’s desk.
  • To sign out newspapers or periodicals, please fill out the borrowing list available at the librarian’s desk.
  • Newspapers, magazines, dictionaries: only refer at the library.
  • Some materials is used before a problem set is due or prior to an exam (announced by the librarian), participants only refer in the library or borrow in the shorter time per day, to ensure that all participants have equal access to the materials.

Failure to return a book after the receipt of two overdue notices will result in the revocation of borrowing privileges. A book which is not returned within 2 weeks will be presumed lost and a fine equal to the replacement cost of the book will be deducted from the borrower’s monthly stipend. The FETP reserves the right to impose additional sanctions.

Access by the Public

FETP alumni and members of the public with letters of reference are welcome to consult FETP library resources during non-peak hours (9:00 - 11:00 hrs; 14:00 - 18:30 hrs). We regret that library materials only circulate to FETP faculty, staff, and participants.
