Introduction
The Vietnam Leaders in Development Program is predicated on the observation countries decide how fast and how far they develop by the policy choices they make (or do not make). Participants will assess these choices in several critically important areas, considering also the choices that other countries made when confronted with similar challenges. The objective of the program is two-fold. First, it seeks to equip senior policymakers with a strategic framework for making policy decisions, informed by analysis of the latest trends in the Vietnamese and international economies. Second, through discussion and dialogue, participants and faculty will consider different options to meet the critical challenges that Vietnam is facing with a focus on long-term infrastructure, energy and urban development, and short-term macro stability. A point that will be made repeatedly during the course of the program is that effective policies will only emerge from rigorous analysis and reasoned, vigorous discussion.
