(VietNamNet) - The opening ceremony of the pilot public policy training programme in Vietnam took place on November 22 in Hanoi.
Vietnam has been chosen as the first Asian country to test implement the Japan Fund for Public Policy Training (JFPPT) programme, initiated by the Japan Fund of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Institute. This is an initiative that is conducted in parallel with the Vietnam-Japan initiative to improve the business environment in Vietnam.
The pilot programme started with a course entitled ‘Marketing places: new development strategies for northern provinces’. Forty nine trainees from eight provinces of the northern key economic region are to attend the first course, organised by ADB, the Fullbright Economic Teaching Programme of the HCM City Economics University, and the National University in Hanoi.
The programme aims to help Vietnam and other transitional economies in the region enhance their capacity to build and analyse public policy, and develop a contingent of lecturers and a public policy training technology of international standard.
