Identifying the current image of a locality

While we may possess a sophisticated understanding of our home regions, how can we ensure that outsiders can acquire similar knowledge? One major task in marketing places is identifying the current image of a locality in the eyes of investors, desirable residents, tourists, and product buyers.

On Friday, May 30 2003, participants in the Fulbright School’s Marketing Places course listened to a guest lecture by Mr. Huynh Buu Son. Mr. Son has been involved in investment projects in different provinces of Vietnam under the investor’s role. He presented the cases of Can Tho and Binh Duong provinces where investors have been able to gauge the business environment through the real experiences of other investors. The Marketing Places class discussed with Mr. Son ways to identify important factors that contribute to the attractiveness of a province in the eyes of investors.
